multiGuide, Munich: Fleximodo sensors inside a multi-technology guidance system

multiGuide GmbH, based in Oberhaching near Munich, builds parking guidance and outdoor signage systems for airports, commercial sites and cities. Its systems combine several detection technologies, and Fleximodo's magnetometer-plus-radar sensors are one of them, used where a bay-level sensor in the ground or on the surface is the right fit.

The partnership has run since before 2023 and covers sites across Germany. The best-known is JELBI, Berlin's network of mobility hubs run by BVG, where multiGuide installed surface-mounted sensors on adaptors finished in the JELBI traffic yellow (RAL 1023). Elsewhere, multiGuide chooses LoRaWAN for dense facilities with its own gateways and NB-IoT for scattered sites with no gateway coverage. Data reaches multiGuide's own platform or, where a client needs external access, Fleximodo's IoT Hub and CityPortal API.

What was deployed

  • IoT Parking Sensor Standard, in-ground, LoRaWAN and NB-IoT (99.96% accuracy)
  • IoT Parking Sensor Mini, surface-mount, LoRaWAN, for interior levels, thin slabs and temporary layouts
  • REPASS surface-mount sensors on On-Surface Adaptors, including the custom RAL 1023 finish for JELBI
  • IoT Hub backend and CityPortal API for sites that need external data access
  • NB-IoT connectivity over 1NCE and Deutsche Telekom networks

Why it matters for parking guidance integrators

A guidance system is only as good as its occupancy data, and no single sensor type suits every site. multiGuide's approach shows how one sensor family can cover very different conditions: drilled asphalt, surfaces where core-drilling is not allowed, and branded public hubs where the hardware has to match a colour scheme. Because both radios feed the same backend, the integrator can pick the network per site without changing the data model. Automatic temperature compensation keeps detection stable from winter frost to summer heat.
