Paris region: Sogetrel runs Fleximodo LoRaWAN sensors on its own platform

Sogetrel SAS, a French digital infrastructure integrator based in Issy-les-Moulineaux near Paris, builds and runs telecoms networks and smart city systems. In 2024 it evaluated Fleximodo LoRaWAN parking sensors, then moved to production sensors that feed its own platform directly.

Why start with a demo kit of overground sensors?

The demo kit let Sogetrel's engineers test detection and integration before touching a road. The five Sensor Mini units mount on the surface, so they install in hours with no cutting or asphalt work, and they can be moved between test locations.

The kit also included one IoT Permit Card. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy so a sensor can recognise an authorised vehicle, which let Sogetrel test vehicle identification alongside occupancy in the same trial.

Why send raw LoRaWAN data to Sogetrel's own platform?

Sogetrel already operates networks and backend systems for its clients. For production, it chose to integrate the sensors directly: each sensor sends its LoRaWAN payload to Sogetrel's own network server, and Sogetrel's platform processes it. Fleximodo's hosted IoT Hub is not in the data path.

For an integrator this keeps the whole chain, from gateway to dashboard, inside systems it already runs and supports. The sensors act as edge devices, and Sogetrel decides how data is stored, shown and shared with its clients.

Why in-ground sensors for production?

For permanent bays, Sogetrel moved to the IoT Parking Sensor Standard in-ground. It is rated at 99.96% detection accuracy, IP68 and IK10, and carries up to 8 tonnes, which suits long-term street and car park installations better than a surface unit.
