T-Mobile Czech Republic, the national mobile operator and a Deutsche Telekom company, runs its own NB-IoT network. Before offering Fleximodo parking sensors to its customers, its engineers tested them on that network in Prague in early 2025, then moved to a production deployment of in-ground sensors with Permit Cards.
System architecture
- Sensor. IoT Parking Sensor Standard: a 3-axis magnetometer combined with nanoradar, 99.96% detection accuracy, automatic temperature compensation. IP68, IK10.
- Identification. IoT Permit Card (BLE). The sensor detects the card in a parked vehicle and reports whether it is authorised.
- Network. NB-IoT on T-Mobile Czech Republic's own network. No gateways on site.
- Platform and integration. Occupancy and Permit Card events are processed in the backend and made available for the operator's own services via Fleximodo's integrations and API.
What was deployed
| Stage | Equipment |
|---|---|
| Evaluation kit (January 2025) | 3 × Sensor Standard above-ground on On-Surface Adaptor, 2 × Sensor Standard in-ground, 1 × BLE Permit Card |
| Production (March 2025) | Sensor Standard in-ground, NB-IoT; IoT Permit Cards with backend processing; On-Surface Adaptors for spots where drilling is not possible |
| Connectivity | NB-IoT (sensors), BLE (Permit Cards) |
| Detection | Magnetometer + nanoradar, 99.96% |
Integration notes
Test both mounting modes. The evaluation kit split sensors between surface-mounted and in-ground. An in-ground sensor sits in asphalt and sub-base; a surface sensor sits on top, exposed to different temperatures. Testing both side by side gave the operator's engineers data for whichever installation a future customer asks for.
Validate on the network that will carry the traffic. A sensor's behaviour on NB-IoT depends on network settings such as power-saving timers and paging. Testing on T-Mobile's own network, not a lab simulator, meant the results apply directly to live customer sites.
Add identification from the start. Including a Permit Card in the kit let the team test the full enforcement workflow, not just occupancy. The production deployment kept Permit Cards, so bays can show who is parked, not only whether the bay is taken. See parking enforcement.
